Tattoo Removal Tips

Differing Methods Of Tattoo Removal
By Mark F Hargreaves

There are a few excellent methods of tattoo removal available today. It is important when considering the removal of a tattoo that you gather as much information on the different procedures as possible to find the best method for you.

Tattoos are desirable for numerous reasons. Many times it’s simply for decorative purposes. Other times the designs represent an important person, time or event in a persons lifetime. On the other hand there are many different reasons why one would want to have the tattoo removed. Reasons may include the art was bad, the tattoo itself came out wrong or it is merely no longer wanted.

Tattoos are very durable things. The ink is injected deep within the skin, into the secondary layer of skin known as the dermis. The repeated injections deposit the ink in this area of the skin for the purpose of lasting a lifetime. Having tattoos removed can prove to be quite an involved and sometimes expensive process.

One thing to keep in mind is that some scarring is likely to occur while having a tattoo removed. After care will be needed likewise and may include bandage changes or a suture removal. Even with tattoo removal, some people will still experience some colored areas on the skin that have only been lightened.

Many factors can influence the success rate of a tattoo removal. The tattoo size and color have a great effect on how, and even if, the tattoo can be removed completely. The location of the tattoo on the body will also affect it’s removal.

There are a number of different methods for tattoo removal. Very small tattoos can be removed with a simple excision. This is the procedure when a small tattoo is just cut carefully away. An incision is made, the tattoo is removed and the skin is then sutured closed.

Larger tattoos can be removed by excision too; although it may require several attempts to remove the entire tattoo. Many times, the middle portion of the tattoo is removed and permitted to heal prior to any further attempts to excise the outer portions. Another technique for excising larger tattoos is to take a skin graft from another part of the body to enable it to close the incision.

A different technique is called dermabrasion. This method for tattoo removal involves the utilization of a special chemical that is applied to the tattoo design. The tattoo and skin around it are frozen, giving the effect of a local anesthetic. A rough surfaced tool is then used to rub down the tattoo in the same way that you would use sandpaper.

Lasers have recently grown in popularity in the medical field and tattoo removal has benefited greatly from them also. For the purpose of removing a tattoo, the laser is used to break up the ink and colors of the design. Cells in the body are then able to attack and remove these tinted cells naturally. When lasers are employed, repeat visits are needed to continue the break down of the ink that was used in the original design.

Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removal can be done with any one of an assortment of methods. A medical practitioner is needed for this type of procedure. The medical practitioner should be consulted with any concerns regarding the size of the tattoo to be removed, the coloration, the location on the body and any necessary after care that will be needed once it has been removed.

A tattoo is thought of as something that lasts for a lifetime. Though they can be removed with surgery, lasers or dermabrasion, some scarring is likely to be encountered. Getting a tattoo should be carefully considered first and foremost as it will usually be an everlasting mark in the skin. Please remember that tattoo removal is painful, expensive and may not do the job completely.

Meaning and Symbolism Behind the Lotus Flower Tattoo

The Meaning and Symbolism Behind the Lotus Flower Tattoo
By Chris Ryerson

Lotus flowers are amazing and have strong symbolic ties to many Asian religions especially throughout India. The lotus flower starts as a small flower down at the bottom of a pond in the mud and muck. It slowly grows up towards the waters surface continually moving towards the light. Once it come to the surface of the water the lotus flower begins to blossom and turn into a beautiful flower.

Within Hinduism and Buddhism the lotus flower has become a symbol for awakening to the spiritual reality of life. The meaning varies slightly between the two religions of course but essentially both religious traditions place importance on the lotus flower.

In modern times the meaning of a lotus flower tattoo ties into it’s religious symbolism and meaning. Most tattoo enthusiast feel that the a lotus tattoo represent life in general. As the lotus flower grows up from the mud into a object of great beauty people also grow and change into something more beautiful (hopefully!). So the symbol represent the struggle of life at its most basic form.

Lotus flower tattoos are also popular for people who have gone through a hard time and are now coming out of it. Like the flower they have been at the bottom in the muddy, yucky dirty bottom of the pond but have risen above this to display an object of beauty or al ife of beauty as the case might be. Thus a lotus flower tattoo or blossom can also represent a hard time in life that has been overcome.

Lotus flower and peonies are also two flowers that are very popular among Japanese tattoo artists and they make a great compliment to Koi Fish tattoos. Ironically enough the two koi fish and lotus flowers can often be found in the same pond in front of a temple. The Koi fish is a symbol typically for strength and individualism.

The Easy Steps to Set Up a Tattoo Gun

The Easy Steps to Set Up a Tattoo Gun
By Wincent Loh

Every profession has tools of the trade, and the tattoo industry is no exception. All the ink, flash, stencils and needles in the world would be worthless without the tattoo gun. Your tattooist will definitely know what you’re talking about when you used the word “gun”, but it’s a generally thought of as an amateur term. Professionals usually just say “machine” or use the term “iron”.

The first tattoo machines where based on something Thomas Edison (that’s right, that Thomas Edison) invented in the year 1876 called the Autograph Engraver. The device was originally meant to be an engraving machine. The design was improved upon some years later by a man named Samuel O’Rielly who came up with and needle and rod system and ink reservoir. The modern day machine has evolved quite a lot since O’Rielly’s version. The first apparatus resembling the current model was so heavy; it was often mounted to the ceiling with a spring so that the majority of the weight was taken off the tattooist’s hand.

The version used today allows for much more precision in depth, saturation, everything. In fact, the art of tattoo application has become so precise that dermapigmentation, or applying permanent cosmetics to the delicate skin of the face and eyelids is possible and popular. The gun works on an alternating current system, similar to a sewing machine. The needle moves between 80 and 150 times per second, speeding up the process, cutting down on skin irritation and allowing the artist to work without moving very much so that his hand remains as steady as possible.

The needles are soldered into tubes in all different numbers and arrangements. The purpose in having a variety of configurations is the same as a more conventional artist having more than one paint brush. Each one produces a different effect. Some are for outlining, some are for shading to varying degrees and some create a solid fill. The general mechanics of a tattoo gun are fairly simply. In fact, some inventive person could put one together at home with parts of things you probably have lying around the house. There are several very good reasons you should never, ever do this, injury and disease to name just two, but since when has that stopped everybody?

* An ink pen

* Guitar string

* A tooth brush, or something similar (you’ll see in a minute)

* The eraser from the top of a #2 pencil

* A small, battery operated motor, like what would be in a hand held cassette player

* Tape, or some sort of adhesive to hold it all together

* Some sewing needles

First you take four or five inches of guitar string and bend a little bit toward the end. Next, you remove the tube of ink from the pen. Cut it down to three or four inches long, then remove the brass ball at the end, making sure the opening created is large enough for a needle to pass through. Insert the needle into the tube. Then decapitate the toothbrush. Use a lighter, or some other flame to heat the plastic just until it’s soft enough to bend, and then do so in an L shape.

Then, use your adhesive of choice to join the tube/needle combo to the long end of the L. Gently push the eraser onto the motor’s shaft, getting it as centered as possible, then attach the motor to the short end of the L. Stick the bent end of the guitar string should be pushed (off center) into the eraser, and the other end should go through the tube and attached to the needle. The thinner the tube, the more control you will have over the gun. Now that you know how to manufacture a tattoo machine, DON’T!

Temporary Airbrush Tattoos

All About Temporary Airbrush Tattoos
By Farah Ahmed

Have you ever heard of TATS or temporary airbrush tattoos? Temporary airbrush tattoos are actually a type of temporary tattoos. It is relatively new compared to the other temporary tattoos and the process is a little different too. In fact, I dont think you would be able to guess the process if you have heard about it for the first time. This is because it utilizes a technique which is quite different than the other temporary tattooing processes.

The tools used for TATS are an airbrush gun and a tattoo design stencil. You can choose from among a lot of tattoo design stencils where the design is already created. All you do is to put the tattoo stencil on dry skin and put color on it using an airbrush gun. This actually works the same way a car is painted.

So,the main difference between TATS and other temporary tattoos is in the tattooing process and the tools used.

In the case of temporary airbrush tattoos, a tattoo stencil is used and an airbrush is used to deliver the ink on the skin. The airbrush helps to maintain some delicate feature required by the tattoo design and helps to do the tattoo quickly too. It is the closest experience to getting a permanent tattoo.

Some people wont even be able to make out the difference between a TAT and a permanent tattoo. How cool is that?

Another advantage of TAT is that it is so easy to produce. All you have to do is get a tattoo stencil and airbrush and start creating your own tattoos.
